Biography

Krasimir Stefanov was born in Plovdiv (Bulgaria). He initially studied at the National Art School ‘Dobrin Petkov’ in his home town. He then completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honours at the Music Academy in Sofia. Postgraduate studies took him to the soloist class of professor Branimir Slokar at the Bern University of the Arts, where he also completed his orchestral diploma and Master of Arts in Specialised Music Performance with distinction. From 2001 to 2005, Stefanov was principal trombonist in the Sofia National Opera Orchestra, and since 2006 he has been a member and principal trombonist in the Verbier Festival Orchestra. He has received honours at numerous competitions and performs extensively in solo recitals, chamber music, and solo concerts. He has been principal trombonist in the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra since 2008.
