Biography

Adrian Buzac belongs to the top class of international oboists. He was born in Kronstadt, Romania and grew up in a well-known family of musicians.

Thanks to his outstanding development on the instrument, he was able to begin studying Concert Oboe in Salzburg at the age of 16. This was later followed by studies in instrumental pedagogy, Baroque Oboe, and Musicology. His inspiring teachers included Lothar Koch, Maurice Bourgue, Günther Passin, and Alfredo Bernardini.

From an early age, he gained extensive orchestral experience and an immense repertoire with orchestras and ensembles such as the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Orchestra of the Tyrolean Festival Erl, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Simon Bolivar Orchestra, Salzburg Chamber Soloists, Symphony Orchestra Liechtenstein, Vienna Concert-Verein, Symphony Orchestra Vorarlberg, Ensemble Esperanza, ÖENM (Austrian Ensemble for Contemporary Music), and Windkraft Tirol.

As a multiple first prize winner of national and international competitions, he has been sponsored by the Soros Foundation, Karajan-Centrum Berlin, Sofie Föhn-Stipendienstiftung, and conductors Gustav Kuhn, Dennis Russell Davies, and Gustavo Dudamel.

In addition to his international career as a soloist and orchestral musician, he has successfully led the oboe and chamber music major class at the Stella Vorarlberg Private University College for Music since 2008.

Masterclasses at home and abroad as well as his work as a juror at national and international competitions broaden his pedagogical field of work.

His graduates are already successful teachers and orchestral musicians.
