Biography

Benjamin Lack is a versatile conductor and educator with a wide-ranging repertoire. Since the 2023–24 academic year, he has been a professor of choral conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.

In addition to his teaching and artistic activities in Graz, Benjamin Lack leads the instrumental ensembles at Stella Vorarlberg, a private college of music. These include the college symphony orchestra, the “PulsArt” ensemble for contemporary music, and the Stella Sinfonietta.
Benjamin Lack regularly conducts the Chamber Philharmonic of Lake Constance and Upper Swabia (KBO), is a welcome guest with the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra, performs with the Baroque orchestra Concerto Stella Matutina, and has had the opportunity to collaborate once again with the ensemble “Capella della torre.”

As artistic director of the Bregenz Festival Choir, Benjamin Lack has been closely associated with the festival on Lake Constance since 2009. As part of his work with the choir, he regularly collaborates with internationally renowned conductors. In addition, he conducts the annual Festival Mass.

Until recently, Benjamin Lack was the music director of the Feldkirch Chamber Choir. Over the past ten years, he has enriched and helped shape the musical landscape in Vorarlberg and the Lake Constance region with this ensemble. Under his direction, the Feldkirch Chamber Choir gave numerous performances, including as part of the Montforter Zwischentöne Festival, featuring the great oratorio works of Bach (St. Matthew Passion and Mass in B minor), Handel (Messiah), Mozart, Cherubini, Haydn (The Seasons), and many others.

Benjamin Lack has been the cathedral music director at St. Nikolaus in Feldkirch since 2006, where he cultivates a stylistically diverse repertoire of sacred choral music with the cathedral’s ensembles.
This includes classical orchestral masses and a cappella works during church services, as well as oratorios in the cathedral’s concerts.

In October 2025, Benjamin Lack was awarded the Grand Medal of Merit of the State of Vorarlberg.
