Biography

The Munich-based concert guitarist Augustin Wiedemann was the winner of the 6th International Guitar Competition in Havana/Cuba in 1992. He has performed as a soloist in the USA, South Korea, Russia, North Africa, and in most European countries and has given concerts with various orchestras such as the ‘Members of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra’. He is regularly invited as a juror to important guitar competitions (Con-curso Andres Segovia Linares, Concorso Internazionale Mottola, Anna Amalia Competition Weimar, Guitar Foundation of America Youth Competition etc.). In addition to his solo activities, Augustin Wiedemann has been playing in a crossover project with the singer and guitarist Kosho (guitarist of the hip hop/rock band ‘Söhne Mannheims’) since 1999. He is chairman of the ‘Hermann Hauser Guitar Foundation’ and has taught as an assistant to professor Eliot Fisk at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and as a visiting professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Augustin Wiedemann has been a professor of guitar and chamber music at Stella Vorarlberg (formerly the Vorarlberg State Conservatory) since September 2011. Since summer 2022, he has also been head of the artistic master’s programme there.
