Biography

  • Teaching diploma for double bass at the Conservatorio Grassi in Buenos Aires (1982). Further studies at the Bern Conservatory and the Conservatoire de Lausanne (soloist diploma).
  • Solo double-bass player at the Orquesta Juvenil de Radio Nacional in Argentina (1980-84). From 1988 to 2011 solo double-bass player with the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra. Soloist with numerous orchestras worldwide.
  • Jury member at various international music competitions.
  • Oscar Edelstein, George Crumb, Herbert Willi, and others providing important impulses for his compositional work. Compositions for orchestra, chamber music ensembles, solo instruments, ballet, music theatre, and opera.
  • Winner of many prestigious prizes. 1982 Argentinian special prize ‘Jeunesses Musicales’. 1984 special prize awarded by Sir Yehudi Menuhin. Prize of the Swiss Conductors’ Association (1987), Culture Prize of the Canton of Appenzell (2000).
  • Conductor: Studies in Buenos Aires, Munich, and Switzerland.
  • Concerts, recordings on disc, CD, radio, film, and television.
