Biography
Christoph Thoma studied trumpet at what was then the Vorarlberg State Conservatory under Prof. Lothar Hilbrand. A native of Bregenz, he gained experience in cultural management at Jeunesse Austria, the Remise Bludenz, Bludenz Kultur, and Grazer Spielstätten GmbH. As managing director of Bregenz Tourismus & Stadtmarketing GmbH, Thoma played a key role in positioning the state capital as a city of culture and festivals. In May 2015, he spearheaded the application process for the cities of the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley to become the European Capital of Culture 2024. Through CULTURELAB Beratung GmbH, Thoma supported, among other things, the city of Chemnitz’s bid to become the European Capital of Culture 2025, as well as city marketing and tourism development initiatives in Dresden, Trier, and Luxembourg from 2017 to 2022. Thoma served as a member of the Vorarlberg State Parliament from 2019 to 2024, has been Director of the Vorarlberg Economic Association since January 2023, and has been a member of the Austrian Federal Council since December 2024.
