Biography

Christoph Thoma studied trumpet at the former Vorarlberg State Conservatory under professor Lothar Hilbrand. Born in Bregenz, he gained experience in cultural management at Jeunesse Austria, Remise Bludenz, Bludenz Kultur, and Grazer Spielstätten GmbH. As Managing Director of Bregenz Tourismus & Stadtmarketing GmbH, Thoma played a key role in positioning the federal state capital as a city of culture and festivals. In May 2015, he was the driving force behind the application process of the cities in the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley to become European Capital of Culture 2024. From 2017 to 2022, Thoma worked with CULTURELAB Beratung GmbH to support the city of Chemnitz’s application to become European Capital of Culture 2025, as well as city marketing and tourism developments in Dresden, Trier, and Luxembourg. Thoma has been a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament since November 2019 and Director of the Vorarlberg Economic Association since January 2023.
