Biography

Trumpeter Herbert Walser-Breuß is a graduate of the Vorarlberg State Conservatory and the Mozarteum University of Music. He has performed regularly with Nikolaus Harnoncourt’s ‘Concentus Musicus Wien’, ‘Il Giardino Armonico Milano’, ‘La Cetra’ (Basel), and many others since 1991 and is co-founder of the Vorarlberg baroque orchestra ‘Concerto Stella Matutina’. In the field of jazz, he plays with the ‘Dirty Horns’, the ‘Jazzorchester Vorarlberg’, the ‘KDR-Society’, the formation ‘Heartbeat’ with the Norwegian percussionist Helge Norbakken, the ‘Erben’ with Florian Bramböck, the ‘Scruffy Herberts’ of bassist Peter Herbert, the band ‘Mose’, and in various formations of the ‘Collective of Improvising Artists’ with pianist Peter Madsen. He has recorded around 90 albums with the aforementioned formations. His most recent releases (2018) were ‘Ins Weite’ (Heartbeat), ‘Never bet the Devil your Head’ (Peter Madsen’s Seven Sins Ensemble), ‘Film Musik’ (Mose), ‘Nuove Invenzioni’, and ‘Cherubini in Wien’ with a recording of J. N. Hummel’s trumpet concerto in E major on the historical Kappa trumpet (Concerto Stella Matutina).
