Biography

Jonas Palm (born in 1993 in Ludwigsburg) has won numerous competitions, including the German Music Competition, the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition, the Prémio Internacional Suggia, the Concorso Enrico Mainardi, and the national “Jugend Musiziert” competition. His debut CD, featuring works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Janáček, and Dutilleux, was released on the GENUIN label.

As a soloist, he has performed with, among others, the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, the Stuttgart and Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestras, and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn in concert halls such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Beethovenhalle in Bonn, the Liederhalle in Stuttgart, the Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg, and the Bremer Glocke. He has appeared at renowned festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Lockenhaus Festival, the Heidelberg Spring, the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, and Young Euro Classic Berlin. Jonas Palm is principal cellist with the Kammerakademie Potsdam and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn.

He studied under renowned cellists such as Jean-Guihen Queyras, Conradin Brotbek, Clemens Hagen, Nicolas Altstaedt, and Peter Bruns. After holding teaching positions at the conservatories in Stuttgart and Leipzig, he is now a professor at the Stella Vorarlberg Privathochschule für Musik.

He plays an instrument made by the Italian master luthier Pietro Ugar in Rome around 1775.
