Biography

  • Comprehensive music education at home, school and music school led to music studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna/MDW from 1991 (instrumental and vocal pedagogy violin 1+2; course in composition according to Heinrich Schenker and advanced course in cultural management).
  • During her studies in Vienna, she was a member of the Haydn Academy, the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra, the baroque ensemble Concerto Stella Matutina, and the ‘Amras String Quartet’, a specialised ensemble for contemporary music. After completing her studies, she focused on the musical genres of traditional and folk music.
  • Teaching/research: 1998-2010 academic staff member and lecturer at the Institute for Folk Music Research and Ethnomusicology at the Vienna University of Music; since 2008 teacher in Feldkirch, from 2012 establishing the ‘Centre for Folk Music Research in the Lake Constance Region’, active concert and course activities at home and abroad. Research-led revival of yodelling in Vorarlberg since the 1990s as well as folk music research & migration.
  • Member of the scientific commission of the Austrian Folk Song Society, 2016 Award of Honour for Art of the State of Vorarlberg.
