Biography

Harald Brandt studied trombone at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz with Friedrich Loimayr and at the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic with Karl-Heinz Duse-Utesch. In 1987 and 1989 he won first prizes at the respective state and national “Jugend musiziert” competitions in Austria. After an engagement with the Brucknerorchester Linz, his path led him to Berlin, where he performed in numerous concerts with the Berlin Philharmonics, the brass ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonics and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.

He has performed as a soloist with the Vorarlberg Symphony Wind Orchestra, the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck, and the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra, among many others. Harald Brandt has been principal trombonist since 1991, bass trombonist of the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck since 2010, and has taught trombone at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory and Stella since 1993.
