Biography

Johannes Obermeier (*1998) began his studies in Business Administration at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 2016, following his early studies in saxophone (with Koryun Asatryan) and piano (with Olaf Dreßler) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. He completed his master’s degree in 2022. In 2024, he finished his composition studies with Jan Müller-Wieland as well as his piano studies with Adrian Oetiker and Michael Schäfer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.

He collaborates with musicians such as Daniele Gatti, Janina Fialkowska, Peter Michael Hamel, and John Adams, and is a guest at numerous festivals. Johannes Obermeier is a prizewinner of many national and international competitions in piano and composition. He won 3rd Prize at the ARD International Music Competition in the piano category, as well as 1st Prize at the International Schimmel Piano Competition. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Chamber Orchestra.
