Biography

Clemens Morgenthaler studied church music and singing at the music academies in Freiburg and Basel (concert diploma with honours). Kurt Widmer and Beata Heuer-Christen were influential teachers. He attended masterclasses with Rudolf Piernay, Ulf Bästlein, Andreas Schmidt, and Charles Spencer, among others. He is a scholarship holder, winner and prizewinner of various competitions (Richard Wagner Scholarship, Podium Junger Gesangssolisten, Musica Sacra Rome, Liedkunst Husum). Numerous concerts, opera engagements, world premieres, CD, television and radio recordings (ORF, DRS, SWR, ARD, ZDF, Ars, Querstand, etc.) with a repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant to modern music document his artistic activity. He teaches singing at Stella Vorarlberg Private University College for Music and at the Trossingen College of Music. He is also a lecturer at masterclasses and a juror at competitions. Clemens Morgenthaler is the author of monographs on the composers Flor Peeters (Schott) and Jean Langlais (Wißner).
