EU citizens<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Health insurance: As an EU citizen, you are usually covered by the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
You can find information about additional insurance options at the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (\u00d6GK<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liability insurance: Private liability insurance is recommended to cover any damage you may cause unintentionally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Every student must have valid health and accident insurance for the duration of their studies in Austria. Without valid insurance, you will not receive a visa or residence permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One option is self-insurance for students with the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (\u00d6GK) – gesundheitskasse.at<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, you can take out private health insurance such as \u2018Care Austria\u2019, which is specially designed for international students and recognised by the Austrian authorities.  care-concept.at<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Students from Switzerland are advised to contact their own health insurance provider. They can provide information about a student’s insurance coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By paying the \u00d6H contribution, students are insured as \u00d6H members for certain types of damage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
